The Ph.D. Program in Information Engineering of the Engineering Ph.D. School "Leonardo da Vinci" of the University of Pisa

Welcome to the Ph.D. Program in Information Engineering of the University of Pisa.

The English version of our website provides foreign visitors with the most relevant information about the Ph.D. Program, its main activities and study opportunities.

For information concerning admission to the Ph.D. program please refer to the Dottorato di Ricerca section in the website of the University of Pisa.

The Ph.D. Program in Information Engineering, at the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Pisa, focuses on electronic, informatics and telecommunication engineering, i.e. in the cultural, scientific and technological areas of information acquisition, processing, transmission, storage and utilization.

The need for this type of Ph.D. program derives both from the ever-increasing demand for experts in the field of information technologies, and from the huge advances in research and applications in the areas of microelectronics, computer systems and telecommunications.

The Ph.D. program is administrated from the Department of Information Engineering, to which all the members of the academic board belong.

The duration of the course is three years. The formative programme is driven by the need to provide future researchers in both academic and industrial environments with the background and methodological skills required to deal with constant scientific and technological innovations, while allowing them direct research experience in specific fields of this sector.

This is made possible by the multidisciplinary nature of the Department of Information Engineering where a multiplicity of scientific skills, research activities, technological laboratories, experimental equipment, informatics and telecommunication systems is hosted, well suited to providing students with a stimulating environment of study and research.
