Congratulations on this third edition of your book Professor. You've found a way to improve upon a resource that is already the best text on the subject of vehicle dynamics.
Congratulations, Professor. I've read the new version with great pleasure. Among others, the differential is an impeccable chapter. I remember how it helped me to debug definitively the differential of a Formula E model. A small contribution for the win of the championship. Now the book is even richer of insightful formulas. I highly recommend it!
True inspiration. It's not only about notions and concepts, but the rigorous and methodical approach. Such a great privilege to have been a student of Professor Guiggiani, I'll always be grateful for the passion and motivation. Congratulations for this amazing chequered flag!
Congratulations Professor Massimo Guiggiani! Your curiosity and passion for vehicle dynamics are incredible. An example for young engineers. I've just ordered the book and I'm really looking forward to reading the new and revised topics. Your books are engineering milestones.
Just bought! I've all the editions and I highly recommend this book for all the students and all the engineers working in the vehicle dynamics field. It gives an understanding of vehicle dynamics with a deep and rigorous approach, being practical at the same time.
I am eager to read this valuable book soon.
No doubts it is the best book ever about vehicle dynamics and, incredibly, every edition it is improving. It is always on my desk and I successfully applied many concepts to real F1 applications.
Yeah! If you work with vehicle dynamics just get your copy, it is a great book!
This book helped me achieve my Bachelor's degree single-handedly. Cannot recommend this book enough!
I've read your book and really opened my mind about car dynamics, I'm a new person because of that.
Audacious and unprejudiced, this masterpiece is the modern bible for vehicle dynamicists and engineers. With a very fresh touch, it revisits old and new concepts, like that of "Map of Achievable Performance" (MAP), which generalizes the notions of "handling surface" and "diagram". The book covers the salient aspects of vehicle handling, concerning both road and race cars, with careful attention dedicated to longitudinal, lateral, and vertical performances. Tyre modelling is also approached from a very original perspective. All the models presented in the book are very sound, and their derivation is mathematically rigorous yet elegantly simple.
In this textbook mathematical models of vehicles are developed, always paying attention to state the relevant assumptions and to provide explanations for each step. This approach allows for a deep, yet simple, analysis of the dynamics of vehicles, without having to resort to foggy concepts.
However, there is much more than that. Quite surprisingly, it is shown that several classical concepts, such as the understeer gradient or the roll axis, are either wrong or inadequate and need to be replaced.
The book covers handling and performance of both road and race cars. A new approach, called MAP (Map of Achievable Performance), is presented and thoroughly discussed.
This book is not a translation of the Italian book “Dinamica del Veicolo” by the same author. Actually, in some sense, this book is totally different, with new topics and with new points of view for the topics covered in the Italian book as well.
