Congress Centre

The symposium could take place at the Conference Facility of the University of Pisa, that is one of only a tiny number that belong to an Italian university. It stands in one of the most attractive parts of the city and, because it is only two kilometers from the airport, the railway station and the exit on the Florence - Pisa highway, it is easy to reach by all forms of transport. A walk of the same distance along the Arno River and through the fascinating Medieval town centre takes you to the Leaning Tower in the Piazza dei Miracoli.

The Congress Centre building is three storeys high: on the first floor there are the simultaneous translators' booths catering for up to 5 languages, on the second are the press room and other rooms for work and study. The Auditorium is on the ground floor with seating for 1,000 people; when necessary it can be divided by sliding walls into three smaller independent soundproof sectors, two with seating for 250 and one for 500 people. Further smaller rooms with from 20 up to 170 seats are also available for meetings (3 rooms with 90 seats, 2 rooms with 30 seats, 5 rooms with 20 seats). Equipment in the building is technologically of the first order and can satisfy every congress need. The building is fully acclimatized and also lends itself well for receptions, lunches, dinners and other social events.

It is set in attractive open surroundings. The architectural design of the Centre has allowed the creation of an extremely versatile indoor which lends itself to modular use. To the right of the main entrance is a long fully-equipped reception area offering up to 20 reception and contact points with the conference public. Full bar facilities are available near the raised-level lounge area next to the dining area, which can be extended to make use of the gallery space. A number of services areas allow more satisfactory and efficient use of the above-mentioned spaces. A storeroom is available for back-up material and equipment which may be necessary during the conference. A suitable number of terminals (almost 10) will be available with free internet connections.
