The "Etruscan mines" area, Campiglia Marittima: rebuilding and re-utilization of the old foundries and the old laveria.

The thesis concerns the rebuilding and the re-utilization of an old industrial area of the first years of 900, situated in Campiglia Marittima (Livorno, Tuscany).
The work has been developed in two phases: a first phase, general, develops in common with another candidate, Paolo Bertocchini, and face an historical analysis of the complex, a geographic setting of the area, and a detailed analysis of the whole Parco archeominario di San Silvestro with its reality, problems as the life together with the quarries and the extractive activities, and also its tourist aspects. Besides, in that phase, they have been projected and developed, at an urban level, a new systems of runs, to recreate an uniformity to the by now fragmented Park, and also it has been carried out, on a reduced scale, an analysis of the area “Etruscan Mines” with a survey by models: an iconic model, a distributive model and constructive model; and also an architectural relief of the single buildings preceded by a photographic relief. From the relief a planning of the whole area has been faced, with destinations of use, compositive forms, principal aces and runs.
The second phase concerns the individual planning of single buildings, preceded by an individual analysis of the degrade superficial of the vertical walls according to the recommendations Normal 1/88, and from hypothesis of consolidation of the vertical structures, of the arcs of facade, and of the foundations. The thesis develops in the recovery and re-utilization of the old foundries, that becomes a new panoramic restaurant, a new art show-room and a new cafe with relative attached, and of the old laveria, that becomes a new music-center with an open theater and an auditorium. At the end it has been planned the insertion of new small buildings for a commercial use.
