Outline and Content
The course will provide several aspects of basic to
advanced knowledge on geological disposal of radioactive waste including site
selection (4 ECTS) and elements on radioactive waste disposal (4 ECTS). The
course will contain 93 hours of lectures for regular second year Master’s
students.
The course is made of the following lectures:
Course on “Site Selection
for Radioactive Waste Disposal”
– Introduction
– Host formations geological conditions
– Environment stability
– Engineering
– Socio-economic issues
Course on “Elements for
Radioactive Waste Disposal”
– Overview of nuclear fuel cycle and radioactive waste
generation
– Overview of nuclear waste disposal
– Use of THM coupled process
– Natural analogues

Requested
Background
The
course is designed for the 2nd level Master’s and Engineering
students. The learner is assumed to have good knowledge on Mathematics and
Physics.

Behrooz Bazargan Sabet (UL)
