Francesco Pistolesi

Dip. di Ingegneria dell'Informazione - Unipi

About me

I am an assistant professor (RTDa) at the University of Pisa, in the Department of Information Engineering. I graduated from the University of Pisa with a degree in Computer Engineering and with a master's degree, summa cum laude, in Computer Engineering, Enterprise curriculum. In 2015, I earned a PhD in Information Engineering (Computer System Architectures curriculum) from the Leonardo da Vinci doctoral school of Engineering, University of Pisa.
My interests include artificial intelligence and data analytics, with applications to decision support and multiobjective optimization. My research activity is focused on AI for industrial informatics, in particular I am interested in looking for innovative solutions for the smart industry.

What I do

I am working toward new optimization algorithms based on evolutionary computation applied to the industrial processes that involve disassembling electronic devices, with a view to achieving efficient product refurbishment and sustainable end-of-life dismantling.
But the primary industrial topic I have continuously been working on is occupational safety and health (OSH). I have always been interested in increasing the workplace safety with the use of autonomous artificial intelligence-based techniques. I am also particularly attracted by new solutions to measure the workplace stress levels, in order to help workers prevent the related diseases which are affecting more and more people worldwide.
